A new Mercedes Benz G Wagon is one of those coveted overland platforms that is financially out of reach to most of us. But as a used vehicle, the price becomes a little bit more palatable. Gotta love depreciation!
Originally designed as a military vehicle, the G Wagon, short for Geländewagen (need some G Wagon history? read this article), was brought to the civilian market in 1979. The G features body-on-frame construction, three locking differentials, and contemporary models have luxurious interiors featuring leather, wood, and carbon fiber.
From the Seller
“I do have the factory wheels (x5), spare tire cover and basically brand new factory spec tires. [This rig has a] great combination of the carbon vs wood and the designer seats vs the soft leather version. All work was performed by a [Mercedes Benz] dealer in Springfield, Missouri: I think by now two service A, one service B, and misc repairs to get it back in top shape. [I am selling] as is.”
