Overland Classifieds :: 2008 Iveco Magirus 4×4

Eager to start your overland travels in Europe without the hassle of shipping? This 2008 Iveco Magirus 4×4 could be just the ticket. The Iveco Magirus platform is highly sought after by long-term overlanders but can be difficult to come by in North America. Founded by German fire chief Conrad Dietrich Magirus in 1864, the Magirus is a tough fire truck platform built to handle natural disaster and fire emergencies.

This Magirus will soon sail from Chile to Spain, which is a convenient jumping-off point for travels north through Europe, south to Africa, or east across Central Asia. With 118,060 miles and Spanish registration, this truck includes a marine plywood interior and marine electrical panel, both of which were clearly inspired by the owners’ seven-year circumnavigation of the globe by catamaran.

From Evaristo and Ana:

“Our friends call us the transworldists because we have been touring the planet for 20 years. First aboard our catamaran with which we circumnavigated the earth in seven years. After that experience, it was not possible to stay at home. We sold the boat and made this truck with which we have traveled Africa, Asia, Europe, and America. With [it] we have enjoyed the most exciting adventure through remote and secluded places such as the Kalahari, Sahara, and Gobi deserts, as well as the Pamir route, the Mongolian steppe, the Siberian tundra, the great glaciers of Alaska, and the Rocky Mountains.

After a few years of traveling the world, the time has come to sell our home that has brought us so much joy. Its four-wheel drive has taken us through deserts, mountains, and beaches regardless of weather or elevation. The security that you get with its height, which makes it inaccessible, is demonstrated by the fact that it has not had any problems over the years.”

Ashley Giordano completed a 48,800-kilometer overland journey from Canada to Argentina with her husband, Richard, in their well-loved but antiquated Toyota pickup. On the zig-zag route south, she hiked craggy peaks in the Andes, discovered diverse cultures in 15 different countries, and filled her tummy with spicy ceviche, Baja fish tacos, and Argentinian Malbec. As Senior Editor at Overland Journal, you can usually find Ashley buried in a pile of travel books, poring over maps, or writing about the unsung women of overlanding history. @desktoglory_ash
