ORVIS Special Edition Four Wheel Camper

Orvis Special Edition Four Wheel Camper

Four Wheel Campers (est. 1972) and The Orvis Company (est. 1856) are powerhouses in their respective fields. Over the past year, they’ve combined forces to create a special-edition camper for the fly fishing and camping community, “designed to meet the needs of serious anglers, providing the perfect blend of functionality, comfort, and durability.”

The camper will sleep two to three people, fit most full-size trucks, and showcase a multitude of desirable features for the fly-fishing enthusiast. These include locking exterior compartments to store/access up to rods and reels, “mudroom” cabinet space with a drain that’s accessible internally and externally, water- and rub-resistant recycled Orvis Eco Cordura fabric utilized for seating and the mattress, and exterior L-Track for hanging equipment. It’s manufactured with a durable and lightweight aluminum frame, siding, and roof to withstand rugged usage and incorporates a pop-up that can be raised manually or via lift assist to a height of 6 feet 8 inches. It is intended to provide 4-season liveability and is outfitted with various interior amenities to keep its occupants comfortable year-round, such as a TrumaVarioHeat furnace, TrumaAquaGo water heater, a portable propane or electric stove, optional roof-mounted air-conditioning, and more. The interior is functional and stylish with new all-black cabinetry, bamboo countertops, a hot/cold sink (and outside shower), dinette seating with Lagun hardware and a bamboo tabletop, and a king- or queen-size bed with underbed storage. The Hawk (6- to 6.8-foot bed) will start at $38,000, and the Grandby (8-foot bed) at $39,000.

Often we have to invest significant time and money to customize our rigs to accommodate our hobbies and interests, which ultimately detracts from getting out there and enjoying them. It’s exciting to see FWC partner with another industry specialist to optimize a camper for a specific hobby, in this case, fly fishing. I hope this collaboration has sown the seeds for more partnerships down the line so that we may see other special editions optimized for various outdoor activities and interests.
