Nissan Launches the MyRoom Camper in Japan

It is the Holy Grail for many, a vehicle that can perform all the daily functions required for modern life and serve as an adventure vehicle for short or long-term escapes from that modern life. On July 31, Nissan Motor Co. announced the upcoming release of the Caravan MyRoom camper, a standard model of the special launch edition Nissan Caravan, which was available for a limited time last year. CarMyRoom is set to be available starting in late August 2024, offering a unique vehicle designed to provide a space where users can relax and connect with nature. This model represents a new category in Nissan’s lineup, combining the comforts of a personal living space with the mobility of a vehicle. Vanlifers rejoice!

In this new release, Nissan has expanded the options available with the Caravan MyRoom; in addition to the Grand Premium GX grade offered with the launch edition, the Premium GX grade will also be available. The MyRoom retains the features that made the launch edition popular. The interior is designed with a minimalist and refined aesthetic, using abundant wood accents to create a warm and sophisticated atmosphere. The interior can easily be reconfigured into different modes—living room, bedroom, or dining room—by adjusting the combination of the bed and table, allowing users to adapt the space to their needs.

A key feature of the Caravan MyRoom is the 2-in-1 seat in the second row, which can be easily rearranged depending on the situation. During travel, the seat provides a comfortable and supportive ride, while when parked, it can be flipped to offer a soft, sofa-like experience, ideal for relaxing while enjoying the natural scenery through the open rear doors.

The sleeping arrangements in the Caravan MyRoom offer two options: a foldable bed and a flip-up bed. Both are made with herringbone fabric that combines simplicity with rich quality. The flip-up bed can be deployed with a single action and lowers smoothly without the risk of pinching fingers, while the foldable bed is divided into two sections, allowing for versatile configurations.

The slide table can be positioned or removed as needed, utilizing the 2-in-1 seat and the slide table to provide a flexible workspace or dining area.

The exterior of the Caravan MyRoom is enhanced with a series of special black components, including the grille, door handles, mirrors, and steel wheels, which give the vehicle a distinct and cohesive appearance. Exclusive MyRoom stickers are available for the rear quarter window and back door, adding to the vehicle’s unique identity. The exterior color options have also been expanded, with the introduction of the Deep Forest color, which has been popular in the base model Caravan. This new option joins the existing MyRoom-exclusive two-tone sand beige/white, bringing the total available colors to five.

One of the standout features of the Caravan MyRoom is the integration of a portable battery system developed using recycled batteries from the Nissan Leaf electric vehicle. This portable battery from Leaf can supply power to the Caravan MyRoom, allowing users to enjoy the vehicle’s 100-volt AC outlets even in locations without access to electricity. This makes the van practical for off-grid adventures, regardless of where it is parked.

Nissan’s focus on creating a comfortable and versatile mobile living space with the Caravan MyRoom aligns with the increasing demand for vehicles serving multiple functions.
