Expedition Overland is inviting adventurers from far and wide to their inaugural “Freeze Your Fenders Off” Campout, happening February 7-9 at the XOverland Ranch in Three Forks, Montana. This winter gathering is the first of what promises to be a series of quarterly campouts aimed at uniting the overland community in the spirit of exploration, connection, and in this case—a touch of cold-weather character-building.
The idea is simple: bring adventurers and overlanders together for real conversations, great company, and the kind of challenges that only winter camping can provide. With daytime temps expected to hit a brisk high of 18°F, participants will have a chance to embrace the frosty conditions alongside a crew of like-minded enthusiasts. Don’t worry—the XOverland Roadhouse will be open, the coffee will be hot, and the vibes will be warm.
“This campout is about more than just camping in the cold,” says Rachelle Croft. “It’s about creating opportunities to bring the overland community closer together—sharing stories, testing gear, and celebrating why we do this in the first place.”
The Freeze Your Fenders Off Campout kicks off at 2:00 p.m. on February 7 and runs through February 9. Hosted at the XOverland Ranch (9700 Clarkston Rd, Three Forks, Montana), the event entry fee, which includes the campsite and use of the facilities, is $25 for the entire vehicle, so bring your friends. If you’re a little unprepared for winter camping, or you’ve got little ones that aren’t willing to tough it out in the Montana winter, luxury cabin rentals are available for the weekend and can be booked through AirBnB. So, prep your rig, grab your warmest gear, and join XOverland for a weekend that’s sure to leave you with stories to tell. After all, overlanding isn’t just about the places you go—it’s about the people you meet along the way and the challenges you overcome.
