It’s been a while since we posted a vintage Landy. Here we have a very nice find in this 1980 Series III with only 120,000 original miles. Left hand drive, this Landy has been lovingly maintained and is almost 100% original. These are such cool vehicles. Debates will rage about the proficiency of these trucks, but those bar stool feuds are wasted breath. For one thing, owning a Land Rover of this vintage is by no means about offroad performance. For that, buy a Jeep and be done with it. A Series III is a romantic investment. It’s an acquisition of a piece of motoring history. A history I might add, full of global offroading accomplishments.
From the listing:
This is a beautiful original Defender 110 survivor. First purchased just under 30 years ago by a young lady from Holland. She was the first and only owner. This 110 has factory power steering and an external oil cooler which is unique for this 110 era.
This 110’s chassis, cross members, bulkhead and floors are absolutely solid and original. The door bottom rails on the front doors are ready for DIY repairs, however the very rare middle doors are in excellent condition. The rear door is similar to the fronts in that the bottom rail could use a DIY repair as well. All doors open/shut/lock and function safely. Engine and transmission are original with approx 120K miles. Starts first turn of the key and shifts through all 4 gears absolutely with no issue. The interior seats have recently been recovered with a heavy houndstooth fabric and they show very nice. Paint has been hand polished to a glossy shine and vehicle presents beautifully with just the proper patina one would expect from an unrestored survivor.
This vehilce is ready to drive and to be enjoyed by the whole family.
