Go-Alone’s Colombia Documentary—The Only Risk Is…

go-alone landcruiser

On this episode of “How I Met Your Mother,” Max and Nicky (who quietly joined Max somewhere in Central America; she is a keeper) travel the length of Colombia in their 1994 Toyota Landcruiser Prado (KZJ78). Colombia is widely considered by many overlanders to be the jewel of South America, competing fiercely with Argentina to be the crown jewel. Colombia’s allure lies not only in its breathtaking scenery and biodiversity but also in the genuine warmth of its people, making it a standout destination for overland adventurers seeking unforgettable experiences.

This video may be long, at just over 46 minutes, but it is entertaining, with sublime drone footage, somewhat raw “day in the life” footage, and calm, soothing narration. One of the aspects of this video that we enjoyed most is that the focus is not on the personalities of the travelers but on the beauty and the challenges of the journey. This style allows you to escape into the adventure and become a silent passenger accompanying two charismatic but reserved, young yet mature explorers.

As the couple travels from the far north to the south, avoiding Colombia’s main roads and expensive tolls, they find adventure along the way, dipping into cities before escaping back to nature and the challenging tracks and trails of jungles, deserts, and high mountains. You will not believe the beauty and serenity of the landscapes they explore before eventually reaching Ecuador.
