Forks: Three Years, Five Continents, One Motorcycle

A collage: a man stands by a motorcycle near pyramids, another smiles outdoors, a glass of lime drink with ice, and a black pot filled with shrimp and seafood stew—capturing the spirit of travel and adventure.

It’s not very often we feature anything from the world of crowd funding. Kickstarter is awash with lofty ideas, not all of them destined to be realized. That said, we recently came across this unique project and felt we simply had to share. Forks is the could-be book written by adventure motorcyclist, foodie, and world traveler Allan Karl. Having quit his day job to fulfill a life’s dream to travel the world on a motorcycle, Allan spent three years traversing five continents covering a staggering distance of 62,000 miles. His solo journey is chronicled in his incredible book introducing readers to not just the imagery of the experience, but the flavors as well. Part travel journal and part cookbook, Allan offers a rich and textured presentation of his travels as they unfolded. As fellow adventurers, we wish him the best of luck getting his book published. His Kickstarter page is for lack of a more creative word––amazing.

A man leans against a road marker labeled Km 2007 beside a motorcycle loaded with gear, ready for adventure; the book title FORKS and the subtitle about travel, culture, and cuisine appear above.
