For North American overlanders, a journey to Alaska is a right of passage through some of the planet’s most beautiful and seasonally unforgiving terrain. We are excited to travel that route again, this time through the eyes of the ever-impressive Expedition Overland (XOverland) team. XOverland has has released its new series, Spirit of Adventure, produced in collaboration with Hiline Productions and presented by General Tire. The series is available on both YouTube and the XOverland Network. This latest venture by XOverland is expected to draw viewers with its compelling exploration of family dynamics, personal growth, and the challenges of a long-distance journey through rugged terrain. And the cinematography is epic.
In Spirit of Adventure, co-founder of XOverland, Clay Croft, embarks on a transformative road trip to Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, accompanied by his three sons—Eli, Cyrus, and Ryder. They are joined by Ant Austin, Peter Van Stralen Jr., and Braden Clyde, the team behind the scenes who bring the expedition’s story to life. With winter rapidly approaching, the team must reach the northernmost drivable point in the Americas before the season’s intense weather conditions set in. However, the journey is more about forging stronger family bonds than reaching a distant destination.

After 15 years of global exploration and 814 million minutes watched across multiple streaming platforms, XOverland is shifting focus with this new series. While previous endeavors by the company have captured epic landscapes and thrilling adventures around the world, Spirit of Adventure offers a more personal glimpse into how Croft hopes to pass on his love for exploration to his sons. He aims to impart valuable life lessons that go far beyond the act of driving through challenging environments. Now that his sons are stepping into adulthood, he seeks to demonstrate that the true measure of an expedition’s worth is not simply found in the sights they see but in how they learn to overcome obstacles together.
Underscoring the series’ focus on the fleeting nature of family life and the importance of seizing every moment, Clay Croft says,
“We’re not racing against winter – we’re racing against time itself. This series is about more than just the journey to Alaska. It’s about passing down the lessons that will shape my sons for the rest of their lives.”
These reflections highlight the family’s sense of urgency to make the most of their expedition, both as explorers and as a united household. Covering 8,500 miles from Bozeman, Montana, all the way to Prudhoe Bay, the journey is undertaken in three specially prepared vehicles named Nomad, Legion, and Spartan. Each serves a critical role as the team grapples with unpredictable weather, demanding road conditions, and the emotional test of traveling as a family unit.
The first episode of Spirit of Adventure will debut on YouTube and the XOverland Network on February 20, 2025, while a special trailer was released on February 13, 2025.
