1995 Toyota Land Cruiser Troopy :: Classifieds

Toyota Troopy

The Troopy is a pinnacle overland vehicle and is considered by many as the ultimate platform for international travel. I’m not sure that any vehicle is held in such esteemed regard for rugged backcountry applications, which is why the Troopy remains the 4WD of choice for military, commercial, and frontline operations globally. These vehicles are seldom advertised for sale, with just a handful of examples listed on our forum, including this 1985 HDJ75, a 1992, and 1989 HJ75. Today’s 1995 Land Cruiser Troopy features the legendary 1HZ engine and is the perfect blank canvas for a full overland build-out. From the Seller:

Running, driving, and ready to use LHD Troopy project. I titled it as a project because there are plenty of areas that could use more love, but it can be used in its current state. Shows approximately 271,000 kilometers and has factory lockers. Has the 1HZ diesel engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. Was repainted in Europe and not the best job, but presentable. It’s a great starting point for someone to take this Troopy to the next level without having to break the bank to own one.”

1995 Toyota Land Cruiser Troopy

The Troopy is fitted with the legendary 4.2-liter 1HZ diesel motor that delivers 129 horsepower and 205 pound-feet of torque. An exceptionally long-lived engine and drivetrain are matched with all-terrain capability thanks to 4WD, high and low range, manual locking front hubs, a winch, snorkel, rear locking differential, and more. Inside, the Toyota is intentionally utilitarian with basic driver comforts.

No money in the bank, but gas in the tank. Our resident Bikepacking Editor Jack Mac is an exploration photographer and writer living full-time in his 1986 Vanagon Syncro but spends most days at the garage pondering why he didn’t buy a Land Cruiser Troopy. If he’s not watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, he can be found mountaineering for Berghaus, sea kayaking for Prijon, or bikepacking for Surly Bikes.
