In this video of the week, tells a cautionary tale of how a momentary lack of judgment can have dire consequences when exploring unknown off-road trails. Kai and Irati, aka Bluelandy, sank their Land Rover Defender just one day after crossing into Argentina and found themselves in a dramatic situation with potentially far-reaching consequences.
While driving along the paths next to the Uruguay River, which had swelled due to weeks of heavy rain, flooding nearby roads, the couple found themselves over seven miles away from Yapeyú, a town in the province of Corrientes. It was here that they decided to attempt a river crossing without first testing the depths and trail condition, a decision that quickly turned into a nightmare as the Land Rover drifted away from the obscured track and plunged down a bank.
It is relatively easy to avoid such a situation by taking the time to walk and explore an unknown water crossing. Kai and Irati will certainly not be making that mistake again. The outcome could have been so much worse had the bank been steeper and the water deeper; the couple were lucky indeed that the story had a happy ending!
