In 2025, Toyota will celebrate 40 years since the light-duty Prado joined its global Land Cruiser family. This milestone year sees world-famous extreme mobility specialists Arctic Trucks (AT) once again redefining ‘cool and capable’ with the debut of the highly anticipated Land Cruiser 250/Prado AT37. My first impression is that they have knocked this build out of the park, as always. Primarily developed by Arctic Trucks’ International (Iceland) and UK teams, in partnership with Toyota Africa distributor, CFAO, the Land Cruiser 250/Prado AT37 combines Iceland’s deep legacy of off-road vehicle innovation with the world-class expertise found in the UK’s ‘Motorsport Valley,’ a global hub of motorsport engineering and cutting-edge automotive development.
Arctic Trucks International R&D Manager, Freyr Þórsson said,

In developing the AT37, Arctic Trucks concentrated on giving the Land Cruiser 250 Prado more ground clearance, better approach angles, and the ability to traverse rough surfaces with minimal strain. This was achieved primarily through redesigned suspension geometry and wheel arch modifications that accommodate larger tires. The resulting increase in ride height allows drivers to tackle muddy tracks, uneven trails, or ice-covered roads with enhanced confidence.
The engineers aimed to preserve the Land Cruiser’s core features, including a comfortable cabin layout and dependable on-road handling. The AT37 is intended to deliver a smooth experience on highways while offering the ruggedness needed for off-pavement travel. This balance between convenience and capability has long been a hallmark of Arctic Trucks’ approach. The emphasis on durability in the AT37 package aligns with Toyota’s longstanding commitment to producing vehicles that endure harsh environments.
Arctic Trucks’ distinctive widebody flares draw on the design language seen in the company’s extreme expedition vehicles. Each flare incorporates a recess for a tire pressure guide and central tire inflation system while also offering extra coverage, clearance, and a recognizable appearance. Newly developed, contoured AT mud guards integrate smoothly with the Land Cruiser AT37’s extended bodywork, providing effective protection during off-grid travel.
At the rear, a discreet 2-inch multifunction receiver hitch—common to many Arctic Trucks models—enables quick attachment of tow balls, winches, steps, seats, gear carriers, or barbecues, enhancing the AT37’s versatility for relaxed outings or more demanding conditions.
In terms of aesthetics, Arctic Trucks has ensured that the Land Cruiser 250 Prado AT37 retains the model’s recognizable design language, featuring a sculpted front end and bold grille. The body modifications are intended to complement the vehicle’s practical silhouette rather than overshadow its original appearance. Inside, the cabin remains focused on functionality and ease of use, with control interfaces that cater to both on-road commuting and adventurous driving. As an official Toyota partner in multiple regions, Arctic Trucks will introduce the Land Cruiser 250 / Prado AT37 starting in the second quarter of 2025. It will be offered as a dealership-supplied version or a direct customer conversion across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Africa.
