American Expedition Vehicles Introduces 37-Inch Tire Clearance Kits

American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) has introduced its 37-inch Tire Clearance Kits for the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4X AEV Edition and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 ZR2 Bison. These kits are designed to enable owners to upgrade from factory-installed 35-inch tires to 37-inch tires, enhancing off-road capabilities without compromising vehicle integrity. Compared to 35-inch tires, 37-inch tires provide approximately one inch of added ground clearance, which can help avoid obstacles under the vehicle. They offer a slightly larger contact patch for better traction on loose terrain and can climb over rocks and ruts more effectively. Combined with the proper suspension, they may also improve breakover and departure angles, enhancing overall off-road performance on full-size pickup trucks.

Please note that AEV emphasizes that these kits are specifically designed for vehicles equipped with the AEV front bumper, as the clearance provided by this bumper is essential for the proper fitment of 37-inch tires. The installation process is rated as moderately challenging, with an estimated completion time of approximately six hours.

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500 AT4X AEV Edition and the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 ZR2 Bison come equipped with advanced suspension systems and protective features suitable for rugged terrains. However, upgrading to larger 37-inch tires can lead to issues such as tire rubbing and restricted wheel movement due to the stock setup’s limitations. AEV’s 37-inch Tire Clearance Kits address these challenges by providing the necessary modifications to accommodate larger tires safely.

Each kit includes precision-engineered brackets, trim templates, and plastic closeouts that match the vehicles’ original equipment manufacturer (OEM) plastics, ensuring seamless integration with the factory aesthetics. For the Sierra 2500 AT4X AEV Edition, the kit also comprises replacement lower fender flare extensions to accommodate the larger tires. In contrast, the Silverado 2500 ZR2 Bison’s factory fender design already provides sufficient clearance, eliminating the need for additional flare extensions.

The kits are compatible with 37×12.50-inch tires on factory wheels and 37×13.50-inch tires when paired with AEV’s Salta XD wheels, which offer the necessary offset for proper clearance. Installation of the kit requires minor trimming of specific areas, such as the front body mount and the backside of the fender opening. These modifications are concealed by the provided closeouts, maintaining the vehicle’s appearance and allowing for a return-to-stock configuration if desired.
