A Motorcycling Classic: Aerostich Combat Touring Boots

If you’re doing everything right and the stars align in your favor, your head will never touch the ground. Even when you are doing things right, your poor feet touch the ground all the time, and unless they’re properly protected, this could spell doom for your motocycle riding days. Proper boots don’t just enhance the riding experience, they protect your most vulnerable of appendages, your legs and feet. Within the pantheon of great adventure boots, none are as storied as the Combat Touring boot from Aerostich. Manufactured by famed Italian masters of footwear, Sidi, the Combat Touring boot is a motoring legend.

Constructed of the highest quality top-grain leather, these boots have a timeless simplicity that many say is the key to their longevity. Some of these boots are riding into their second decade of hard use. The Norwegian welted construction allows for easy resoling, the one buckle over the instep is replaceable, and the primary closure system relies on good old laces, albeit improved with a handy speed-lace lock. Hook and loop closures secure the outer flap agains the lower leg and a padded cuff at the top not only increases comfort, but helps seal out debris. Available with a low profile wedge sole, or a more aggressive lugged sole, they come in every shade of black you’d ever want. Owners of Aerostich Combat Touring boots will be quick to admit, these boots take some serious time and effort to break in, but once they’re finely tuned to your feet, nothing else compares. With no waterproof membrane, they require periodic maintenance to retain their waterproofness, but they do breath better than any GTX boot can. At only $367, they’re an exceptional value given their potential lifespan.
