Expedition Portal Classifieds :: 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Double Cab Overland Build

Chase of Adventure Ovrlnd has been slowly and meticulously outfitting this Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-road double cab with performance accessories and parts since 2016 when he purchased it off the lot, making it into his ideal overlanding rig. During his time exploring the Western states of North America as well as driving from the Baja Peninsula to Canada, this truck has continuously turned heads. “It has opened so many doors and remains a conversation piece to this day,” says Chase.

From Chase:

“We’re recently back from this truck’s last hoorah under our ownership. We set our sights on Moab, Utah, as we received an invite from the first-ever Moab 4×4 Expo. We had the incredible opportunity to explore some of the most iconic backcountry terrain that I think exists in the United States. We started our epic 4,000-mile, round-trip journey in Harlingen, Texas, and set our sights on Denver, Colorado, to meet up with some fellow adventurers. Upon our exit out of the great state of Texas, we entered into a winter storm that chilled us to the bone. With lows of 3° as we pushed on through the night into Colorado, the Tacoma never missed a beat and stayed the course. We proceeded to head west from Denver to Moab on what may have been the most scenic route we’ve done, I70. It definitely did not disappoint! We spent five days in Moab with plans to put our adventure rig to work yet again on some of the most iconic trails in the nation. Between the suspension, armor, wheels, and tires all working in perfect harmony, we tackled Kane Creek, Top of the World, Fins and Things, Shafer Trail/White Rim Road. We decided to head south from there to Valley of the Gods, Classic Forrest Gump Hill, and Monument Valley as we started making our descent back down into Texas. We’ve driven up into Canada, all over Colorado, California, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and many more, but this trip was packed full of adventure from start to finish.

We’re sad to see it go, but as we have new travel plans that we’d like to embark on and plans for a growing family. It’s time for a new chapter. We’d like a little more space and (full transparency) the thrill of building up yet another amazing adventure vehicle. We did a lot of the labor [of parts and accessories installation] ourselves, but there are a number of things that were done elsewhere. We had the rig serviced only at Toyota dealerships since day one, so all records are on file if needed. We’d trust this truck to go full circle around the globe right now if needed to.”
