Transforming our KTM 500 EXC-Fs into globetrotting beasts was more than a matter of tightening nuts and bolts. Enter Motohansa, born in an Aussie backyard in 1990 and now a global player. From humble garage beginnings, they’ve danced through workshops, partnered with giants like BMW, and expanded across five continents. Their mission is clear: make you the King of the Road, instilling confidence to conquer remote places and roll back home safely—ready for whatever the road throws at your ride.
KTM Pro Adventure
Customized by riders for riders, the KTM Pro Adventure Tool Kit is a backstage pass for grease monkeys who take pride in wielding wrenches. In the workshop, this offering felt high quality across the kit. Take the T-Bar bit driver, which enhanced leverage for practical torque application, while the variety of bits ensured compatibility with different screw and bolt types. Whether assembling bodywork, installing aftermarket parts or securing plastic panels, the T-Bar bit driver provided exactness and versatility, streamlining the buildout.
Best of all, the torque-happy ratchet with a sliding handle and a locking pin transformed it into a breaker bar. In scenarios where stubborn bolts or nuts resisted traditional ratcheting, the breaker bar mode yielded additional force to loosen or tighten them. The MacGyver of toolkits covered a spectrum of other applications. The 3/8-inch and bit sockets handled various fasteners, ensuring efficient assembly and disassembly. The spark plug removal tool facilitated quick maintenance, and the front wheel removal tool made changing the tire a breeze.
The wrenches’ spline design allowed the spanners to engage with standard fasteners away from the corners. This application of force over a broader area minimized any fastener scoring, prevented rounding of corners, and mitigated damage to other fasteners. Thus, the wrenches fostered a more substantial bite, enabling a more effective application across the bike transformation. Reasonably compact with a 3.3-inch rolled diameter and 13.2-inch length at just over six pounds, this toolkit is convenient for storage and transport when space and load permit. Go figure, the heavy tools’ standout feature demonstrated Herculean strength, swatting away inadvertent efforts to break them.
Pro Enduro 38-piece Tool Kit
Crafted by the legendary Paris Dakar rider Simon Pavey, the Pro Enduro Tool Kit is a Ninja in the toolkit world—stealthily compact, lightweight, and kickass. It’s for riders who demand tools as agile as their motorcycles.
Designed for versatility, the 1/4-inch drive flexi head ratchet served as an any-angle socket ratchet, bit driver, and screwdriver with a rotating swiveled head. Talk about multitasking; it’s the showstopper in the kit. Utilizing the ratchet’s extension bar, we used its any-angled and locked-in positions to secure the socket with our desired bit. Often, we opted for the angled position to get into an otherwise unreachable area on the bike, proving useful upon dismantling the engine top, removing the bolt, and enabling valve adjustment. The rachet facilitated precision bolt-tightening to secure the tank and install the skid plate, clutch cover, and hand guards. It was used to construct intricate add-ons such as the steering damper, accessing confined areas around the handlebars and rally tower without fuss.
Not quite two pounds, lighter than your tennis shoes, and with a rolled diameter of 2.7 inches by 6.7 inches, it’s the leading contender for on-the-fly repairs. It’s significantly smaller, lighter, and packable than the Pro Adventure Kit. The 24 S2 elements are arguably the Avengers of tool bits—sandblasted, nickel-plated, and built for durability.
While the Pro Adventure Kit was an adaptable pit crew for our extensive bike build, the Pro Enduro Kit became the unsung hero for the transformation and our servicing needs, excelling in compactness without compromising quality. Motohansa Tools supplies professional-grade, resilient solutions with a lifetime guarantee. Armed with this arsenal, we embark on a new off-road adventure, confident that we’re equipped with the secret sauce for our ride.
