Alright, I decided to finally start a build thread, although I have done some things to my Monty already, I undertook the lengthiest mod I've done so far, and figured now was as good a time as any. I'll add my pics and info from other things I've done up until now, but after I get this started.
For now I'm gonna start with the paint job I did this past Saturday.
I've been meaning to paint the rocker panel portion of my truck since I bought it. I wasn't a big fan of the black over tan color combo, and wanted to have the truck be just all black.

It all started with a good wash the day before, and then I went to Pepboys, and picked up 3 cans of Armour spray on bed liner., I also took a quick trip to Home Depot, because after I got home, I couldn't find any of my sandpaper (we moved a few months ago). I picked up some 100 grit, and some 150 grit paper. The can asked for 150 grit, but I would've been better off just using the 100, I ended up going over the passenger side with both, and realized it was overkill, and so on the drivers side I hit it with just the 100 grit.

I then carefully masked off anything I didn't want painted including the chrome portion of my rear bumper, as well as the corners of the front bumper, which I'll explain why later.

As I got finished sanding the drivers side, and was about ready to paint, it started getting dark, but I kept at it. Note to anyone who wants to do this in the future, this stuff sprays on THICK, and it can be quite a challenge to avoid any runs in the paint, so be prepared to do multiple light coats, do not try to cover the whole area on your first coat, it'll look sparse because of the way it sprays, but it's better, just do a bunch of light coats, and it'll turn out ok. My passenger side had a few more runs in it, as I did that side first, and by the time I did the drivers side, I had it pretty down pat. But, if you do get runs, because this stuff has a textured finish anyways, just dab at it with a paper towel, and you can get rid of most of them.

It got too late to take proper photos, and I also needed one more coat, so I took these the next day.

I also painted inside the door jambs, as I didn't want anyone to open the door and wonder why they were tan
, but these I did in a flat black, which I then covered with a matte clear coat for some protection

I also painted inside the wheel well portion, and under the sides, just in case someone happened to get a look under there, I wanted a finished look, but I didn't take a picture of that, sorry
I didn't do the front bumper as you can see in this photo below, because on the March 10th, the Monty is going to spend a few days at a local overland shop called American Overland Expedition, where they're gonna custom fab me a new winch bumper :victory: I can't wait. I'll try and stop in on them during the build process to take some pics in progress, but I don't know if I'll be able to.
