Jeep TJ Storage "What would you do"

So here is the deal......

I have decided to revisit the build of my beloved Jeep TJ. I have been searching the web and gathering up ideas for storage. But I thought I would post the topic and see what others think.

The main use for my TJ is hauling camping gear and hauling Rock Climbing gear. My son and I climb in a few places that you have to travel offroad for 8 to 10 miles to get to the location. Mostly private land and the trails are plain non-existant. Each trip out I get aggervated due to the packing of gear...there is just no organization to anything. So this year I thought I would step up and make some changes.

I am not lacking in ideas....just can't narrow down what I want to do. Hoping some of you have some good ideas to share and help in the decision making process. I have been tossing around a roof rack...but Gobi is the only brand I think looks good and they want serious coin for them. I am trying to keep this storage plan to about 700 bucks. But the Gobi rack is not out of the question completely.

Here are a few storage ideas I have found....If you have others, please post them...

I've been talking to Martyn @ AT about a box that will fill in the whole back of my TJ... roughly 34.5x36x9".

My uses are trail gear + stuff for my SAR dog. I haven't gotten around to ordering it yet, but it would be around the price range you stated.

I currently have a tuffy underseat full length drawer. Its kinda small, heavy, and fairly noisy. Works pretty good for trail tools and has served me well for the time its been in there though.

A box would be sweet. I have been really tossing it around.

I really am not a fan of roof racks on TJ's with soft tops. If I had a hard top, I would get a basket...but all the tj soft top roof racks are just not made well and plain look like crap.

My buddy has a Kargo Master Roof Rack...it sits up so high and just looks silly. Gobi is the only rack that looks to be form fitting.

Thanks for your thoughts though...

Where did you find that box that has JEEP across the top? I have never seen one for sale like it.

Martyn and Mario would be a great option. My brother has a custom drawer from the them and I fully plan to do the same.

Here are some pics.

The Box with the Jeep sign is a custom box done by some guy I ran into on another forum. He wasn't interested in building another.

I would buy one...I like the style and function of the box.

Thanks for the pics...I like that box as well. I think this is the route I am headed towards.

Nice to see more pics of that. Martyn sent me a few of that Jeep when we started talking about a box for mine..

That's the height/width of the one I'm looking to get. Just 36" deep which is pretty much to the footwells in the back of a TJ.

where did you get the 2nd pic, the one showing the shovel mounted on the back and the (way too high) rails all around?

I bought one of these Tuffy security enclosures:

Basically it uses the rear Jeep door to secure/lock items in. Even with the Jeep top off, the items should be safe. (Within reason)

I've been very happy with it. I have a few small rubbermaid tubs with gear in them and a bag with recovery straps, tress savers, ect. For the price it was about the best bolt in option I could find at the time.
