I will stop thread jacking on here and just start my own thread...lol. Here is a write up I did back in August when the truck was 'Rig of the Month' on a another forum. I figure someone on here has to be curious about the VX.
Since the below write up, I added a torsion bar linking system (forces the IFS to act as a solid axle when engaged), started preservation on the hood/fenders and undercarriage. I also finished the bumper...again. Time to start on a new one I guess. As my metal working skills improve, I keep starting new projects.
Here ya go:
Thanks for the honor, I humbly admit that I really wanted the chance for my baby to be the center of attention(around town from strangers is not enough, my tolerance has grown)
I flew to Columbus, Oh from Charleston, SC to buy my VX in December of 08. She was bone stock,114K miles, obviously garaged. She had typical midwest cancer, rusted out exhaust, corroded rims...
Within 3 months of having her, I added OME 919s, 32" ATs, cranked torsion bar, Rancho 9000s shocks, all 120K maintenance done, digital rear view mirror, stereo, HID lights, flowmaster exhaust, NGK plugs, Injen intake, torque cool fan clutch, functional hood scoop, rocky road sliders and custom skid plates.
I made the voyage to Moab that spring.
It was awesome. I finally got see the iconic Ldub machine that I had seen pictures of a thousand times.
Since then, I have done a lot more. I was bit by the bug, badly.
I have since added a front locker, 34" Kevlar tires, gutted the rear, mounted CO2 bottle, upgraded stereo, undercarriage rock lights, two bumpers, Superwinch manual hubs, a new tranny, optima red top with custom mounting brackets, frame restoration (in progress), rear door spare tire mount.
She has become a love affair, and an irreplaceable part of our family. Much the same way as I look at this forum. I know I piss some people off, and I tend to ramble....but I really do love this truck and the family!!! See ya'll at Moab 2011!!:jump:
Thanks to all the guidance and advice. I like to think I have contributed my fair share. I knew nothing about 4x4s when I started, and now, I would say I have come a long way.
:thanx:
