Different take on M416 trailer build

I'm building up an M416 for an expedition trailer and instead of putting a separate tent on top of the trailer like many do I'm incorporating the trailer into the tent and keeping with the military theme.

Found out that US military issue shelter halves are a very close fit for the M416 and are maybe an inch shorter than the trailer. Welded in a removable frame of EMT conduit to support the tent.

These were just rough fit pictures and I will post more as I make more progress on the trailer.

Hot crap. Awesome.

I've been kicking this around for a while to do on my trailer that I use for hauling all sorts of crap, but also want a way to sleep better than just a tent when I use it to haul motorcycles to motorcycle events. The EMT fittings and EMT are a great way to do the frame for the tent.

I need to know -- what are the dimensions of your trailer? Mine is 4x8.

Trailer dimensions are roughly 6FTx4FT at the top of the bed. Exactly 41" at the bottom.

Just enough room to fit a twin air mattress. Interior of trailer still needs to be Herculined.

Still have a few things to do here and there before it's 'done' but it's finally functional. Will be doing some fine tuning on the canvas in the coming weeks so I can have it nice and tight.

Here's a few things I noticed on the first camping trip out with it:

Rear stabilizer jacks are needed or ballast up front to keep from doing a wheelie.

The shelter halves don't breathe at all and depending on which shelter half you have they do a real good job at blocking daylight. It's pitch dark in there during broad daylight.
