Oldschool Shovel/Axe Mount

Where can you still get the oldschool shovel/axe mount like the one pictured below? This one has a angle piece mounted to it, so you can mount to a hi-lift jack..

I thought Con-ferr used to make them? Maybe thats why i can't find anyone selling them..

I think it's an old Con-Ferr unit. I had one on my 4BTJ60.

Yeah, i think you're right Dave. I had one on my old XJ too.



Oh well, maybe i'll just order the one i posted a picture of in post#1. I can use it either way.

I've seen TJ guys with something similar mounted to their hoods. They use the hood hinges to mount them I believe.

Maybe some Jeep specific gear sites? Quadratec, etc.?

Ok, found it!!! and it looks like 4 Wheel Parts carry their products.

Con-ferr obviously is no longer around.. but the new company is called..Defender Rack. Well defender rack sells a similar mount and here it is..

Is that a plate for a lock in the center?

I got one two years ago when I had the OEM roof rack for the FJ Cruiser. I welded it to a 1.75" roll bar clamp and bolted it to the rack. I got it from off-road unlimited http://www.offroadunlimited.com/orustore/PC/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=185&idproduct=10491 for $36.00.

It looked good until I got the Gobi.......Sold the Gobi awaiting an ARB with Simpson II tent.

You guy's are dangerous in here.

No build thread, but I may someday. Soon I will be posting an expedition thread for my upcoming OZ trip in June '09 that will include buildups I have done to prepare for crossing the Simpson Desert.

Yes, Con_ferr went out of business and ORU bought there old stock and started making it under their name.
I have the Con_ferr Rack and the Shovel/Axe mount on the XJ. Found the mount on e-bay.

Isthis truck still around? I think I see it quite often near Jamborre and Barranca in the mornings. I'm in the white Rover....
