Nice rig. I spent 12 years with KCESAR (1994-2006) before moving to Idaho. King County has about 4 times the action we have in Idaho. It is about the only thing I miss about King County, WA.

Of course, in Idaho as an EMT we are authorized to run Code 3 so I swapped all my amber lighting for red. :smileeek:

I was in ESAR for quite a few years too. got busy with family anf school and havnt been arpund in awhile.

ive been thinking about joing KCSARA 4x4 lately.

Must be an East Coast thing. Here on the West Coast even as 501(c)(3) units we have trucks. Some units better than others depending on the affiliation or relationship with the Sheriff's Office or not. In WA our unit was Sheriff affiliated but not funded and we had two fairly new trucks thanks to fundraising and grant money. In Idaho we are not affiliated with a specific Sheriff's Office. Our trucks are a bit older. One donated by a member when he bought a new truck, another donated to us by the power company where one of our members works, and another is a retired ambulance for a command vehicle from a private ambulance company that another member works with.

just curious but what county is your unit in? when we lived in idaho we were part of bear lake county. we had an older 80's suburban that me and my dad put a 4 inch lift on it because the springs were sagging, an ex-sherriff dodge durango, and an old ambulance for the dive/climb equipment. also a couple of polaris snowmobiles, an inflatable raft, and a kodiak boat.

Some of the SAR teams here in Colo. definetly have nice expensive equipment. In some cases (El Paso, Cty) it depends on your sponsor, in other cases (Alpine, Larimer Cty., Rocky Mtn.) , it helps to have the right people, in the right "locations" and "affiliations" with the state. I spent 5 yrs with Gilpin County, resigned when I got married and by the time I was able to get back into it, they had disbanded. The Sheriff and one of the Sgt's definetly supported us, unfortunately the money just wasn't there (sad given all the casino's in the area), I remember one call-out where the one Sgt. berated the leadership of another group who responded to a call within Gilpin Cty. instead of passing the call on to us. We didn't know they were called out until they requested an ambulance for their victim. When the tone went out for that, the Sgt. advised dispatch to tone SAR as well to respond/assist. When it was done, he and the Sheriff let the other team know that in the future they needed to advise us what they were doing first.
