You might be able to argue that one. I don't think they are 'built' in a factory. I think AEV is buying the parts and assembling them. Since your buying the vehicle from AEV, not Chrysler, this may give you some wiggle room.

I think it's pretty safe to assume AEV have checked into this very carefully and are obviously confident it's going to work.
They would not be taking orders and building a new assembly plant for the J8 unless they knew it's all OK legally for the end customer.

In reality, I would build a combination of the two, and AEV could easily do it.

Thanks for the answer scott! I'd love to get one built like that. My wife already knows if AEV ever calls and offers me a job we are moving immediately. Though considering I'm a RN I don't think that's too likely to happen. lol

Any new experiences to report on the J8 Habitat?
It seems like all the Habitat chatter has quieted down lately. Very nice article in the latest OJ! Anything new to report on how the J8 Habitat prototype is holding up so far? Without the torsion rod, how are you guys opening/closing the top? That would be good to know in case one ever fails (I presume it takes a couple of people to manage it). Will the J8 with Habitat and internal storage options be displayed at OX11? Would you do anything different with the storage if you had it to do over again?

The J8 will be in the Overland Journal booth at Overland Expo.

I noticed in the photos of the new issue that the J8 is sporting what appears to be a set of M&M seat covers. Would you mind telling us where you sourced those from? I've never seen them on a Jeep before, but they are definitely on my "want list" now. Thanks!

They 16" 5x5. they are the spares for GC. I ordered 5 of them from tire rack. they were around 58$ each
