Guess I'm elligible with Rueben

Some very nice looking Fords here. Mine is a bit older than the others. I will not get to work on the back till this fall/winter. I have an 06 Tacoma and a AT Horizon trailer but I still enjoy the 71. Mo and I have driven it in a tour of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and Utah. We had a blast and look forward to repeating the trip again.

The front tire looks like it is mounted on the front of the Ford but it's really mounted on the back of the Tacoma. My goal on the Ford is to keep it un-noticeable on the outside. My kids say it looks like an old fish truck. Maybe I need to buy a fishing pole.

As you can see, it does not have much done in the back yet. I hope to have built in boxes along the sides and a storage box between the two side boxes. The center box will have drawers for storage and the top will fold out making a 7 foot bed. Usable as it is but it will be a lot more comfortable and usable when finished.

I have completely re-done the interior and included a CB and plan to add a ham radio as soon as I get my licence. I also need to update the stereo but I need to replenish the wallet first. The only GPS that I use is a NUVI and it seems to work fine for me. I have all the topo's down loaded and I still revert to maps as well (old habits). When I retire I plan on buying an I pad or something similar to add to the collection.

I am setting a goal of having the shell area done by February so it will be more usable for the up-coming "Old Iron Run."

UJ,
How does the 5.9 haul the camper/trailer load compared to the 7.3?
I've got an 87 6.9l turbo, zf5, that is a bit underpowered hauling my 4000lb camper load.

Nice truck. You likely have an AOD trans and not a C6. C6 were heavy duty 3 speeds (like a Chevy Turbo 400). AOD's were Ford's 4 speed overdrive transmissions.

Don't mean to butt in, but just got new calipers and rotors on the front of my 99 F 150, the caliper was sticking, not enough to pull to one side but driving with the brake on! Never heard a thing. Hope this solves my really bad mpg! Just over 74K on it I guess age is getting to things. A new tank of gas and a check of the mpg is now in order I think. Dah... :)
