I like this design, do you have a link to any additional info or pictures?
Recently I got a Yakima Holdup but don't like the fact that my bike is wider than my SUV. Removing the front wheel as on your rack would fix that.
I built my rack because I wanted the offroad clearance and preferred having the bikes off the back. Part of offroad clearance is width and pre-purposing the Yakima fork mounts gave me the width I needed. I'm not sure what pictures you're needing but the idea started in my head and with a tape measure. After working in the bike industry for many years I sought out a bike rack from the past I knew would work with my design. I don't know the model name but it's a Thule hitch rack.
I cut the rack up, cut some parts off of it and then put it back together. The larger side to side beam is a pre-fab fence post piece from Home Depot. The 'crossbars' are EMT conduit that had an appropriate diameter for the Steelhead mounts to clamp to.
My original design was for the rack to also be used for gear but the need hasn't come up yet, other than an ez-up. Since then the crossbars were cut shorter.
Here she is loaded up with a little over 100 pounds. This trip had some high speed jarring dirt roads and it did great.
