Most of the much larger premium for AWD on the 350HD DRW model is because evidently it comes standard with the 3.5 EcoBoost (but maybe it also includes other equipment that's optional on the SRW version?).

Finally got the pricing for my van. Gulp.

All of the options sounded so good so I checked them all except the running boards! $62,500 MSRP. Hoping for some incentives when it arrives!

Surprised more people aren't talking about this. I saw it a day ago or so. This will definitely help bring down prices for quigleys and 4x4 sprinters. The extra cost for AWD/4x4 has gotten stupid.

It’s very disappointing that ford only vaguely explained how this awd system works on transit.
After doing some research on Ford’s awd system I came across this video that shows an oversees transit, which, according to the chief engineer works on a wet clutch and can be permanently locked with a button. Basically similar to a central differential locking of land cruiser.

I hope will have something like that sort.

Interesting I’m looking at the new 2020 Explorer and I’d wager its running the same setup. Its the same rear wheel drive linear engine layout with the logic playing with front wheel power allocation. All the other “awd” offerings are transverse engine and front wheel drive biased.
I’m eyeing the Expedition too that’s running a more traditional 2spd transfer case setup.

The positive with the 10spd awd combo also enables them to offer a lower 1st ratio in the case of the Transit and all new 2020 Explorer without the 2spd transfer case.

Should we start a petition with Ford so that UJoint gets their AWD van first? I think yes.

Ha, YES! I've tried all of my contacts and even got an email address to someone in the marketing program for the Transit but got no response. They may not want me to get it 1st or want us to modify it at all. Who knows. Hopefully the AWD orders are strong and Ford gets them built quickly!
