Who's building the best 3/4 Ton/ 1 Ton Gas Truck these days!

Test drove the big 3 in 2020. Ordered and bought a 2021 F350 7.3 SCLB. Ride is just smooth as glass compared to the other two.

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

My 21' f350 SCLB 7.3 with 4.30's, 33" Goodyear's and a Leer 122 cap sleeping setup 33,000 miles average is 15 mpg with my best tank coming in over 17.3 mpg hand calculated. So you can do it.

    Ford’s new 6.8L V8

Point is they mated that 6.8 to a light duty trans with a much smaller output shaft to a heavy duty truck. I remember the days of the 300 inline in a one ton....just didn't think Ford would go that route again.

The bigger the truck, the greater the (misplaced?) concern about payload?

I had a few conversations with Brian, head of north American f series, over my truck order. We spent time on this. My truck was to have a 4900 lb payload. His literature stated in two areas , 4900 and 4000 for my truck. When the truck showed up my payload was 4741 lbs. The difference...

The bigger the truck, the greater the (misplaced?) concern about payload?

This happens all the time, folks will buy a truck often times derated because of insurance, plate cost or state law then overload them. "Well my F250 camper package is the same as a F350 " argument. Why do you think Ford is now having electric scales on their new trucks? Because when you...

The bigger the truck, the greater the (misplaced?) concern about payload?

My brother and i are under two different camps.....same amount of money. My brother believes that buying the ultra lightest gear is the way to go. Weighs everything to the ounce. Buys a light truck to keep all his lite gear. His cost, the same as I. I buy a heavier truck that can do more...

The bigger the truck, the greater the (misplaced?) concern about payload?

I believe in the 75% rule. Never load greater then 75% of your payload rating, or pull greater then 75% of your max towing. I bought greater then what I needed and personally have better piece of mind. When I was younger, I bought a truck that was 6250 gvw......and quicky out grew it. Now I...

I think a 72 country squire station wagon would give that a run for it's money.

Bub’bye to the 2 WD Ford Super Duty Trucks

Always wanted a short box. All I drove was rear wheel 2wd vehicles in the winter here in Michigan. You learn very quickly to slow down. Drove to northern Michigan during the blizzard of 96 in a rear wheel drive Ford. I was making the ruts that people followed. No one passed me and we're...
