2005 Tundra novice build - "The Rez"

My coolant runs a pretty consistent 191 once warmed up, dropping to 188 occasionally. My trans temps max out around 180 and under normal loads are around 140-160. I have what I believe is a factory trans cooler included with the SR5 tow package. I've never towed anything that substantial...

    TwoTrack's 05 Tundra

So today we went on our first offroad outing in almost 3 years. (I haven't been camping since.... 2016? ?) My daughter loves anything nature, we actually called today a "nature ride". We ended up hiking to some caves: We drove a lot of trails that I haven't seen in years, most looked much...

    TwoTrack's 05 Tundra

This thread has been dead now for over 2 years, so I figured I'd go ahead and add something new! We ended up not moving to Seattle, buying a house in Tampa, I got a great new job, and my daughter is to the age that she wants to camp! The truck hasn't changed much, the BFG KM's finally failed...

It's been great. When she was in the infant seat it was tight but as she's gotten older and recently turned around, there is much more room. My wife actually uses the truck right now as the DD kid shuttle. The seat we currently have in there is a cheaper Cosco from Wal-Mart. We bought it to use...

I've seen others run them stock and I have plenty of clearance currently.

Everything went on pretty smooth. The front suspension is now setup with Bilstein 5100's on middle perch with Tundra TRD coils (yy/yb). I installed the LR UCAs as well. With the OME setup I was at 23.5" center hub to fender, with 5100's I'm at 22.5". So far I really like the ride, it also makes...

We went to Old Stove, we'll definitely have to try out Pike's next time. We can't wait. The weather was a huge question mark for us, but we get a lot of rain here and it downpours. I think less sun, more overcast, and lighter rain will be fine. It will be a compromise for always having views...

    TwoTrack's 05 Tundra

We made it back from Washington and while I think we were somewhat spoiled by the perfect weather while we were there, we now know 100% this is something we want to do. We were able to scout housing locations, I was able to get a feel for the job market, and we even had time for touristy things...

Towing is my main concern. We're debating getting a SxS once we get to Washington. That and I'll have a nasty commute for a while. My dad runs the Michelin Defender LTX on his Dodge dually that tows regularly and hasn't had any issues. I primarily want them for there wet traction. Sent from my...

I think 33's on a truck with stock gears and not a ton of extra weight wouldn't be bad. If I did go to 33's they'd be 255's which are a little lighter than the 285's. I'm not sure yet, I have the TRD springs and keep coming close to ordering the 5100's.

    TwoTrack's 05 Tundra

The more I really think about what we're going to use this truck for over the next 3-5 years, the more stock simplicity and reliability I want. This truck isn't going to get used on any trail rougher than a maintained fire road and more realistically will probably only see gravel driveways. It...

Haha, that bad huh? We're going up next week to scout out some areas and I actually have a few job interviews lined up. I can't wait to fly fish on some serene rivers and streams!
