    Beerdy's 2001 Suburban for a family of 6

Can't believe I didn't update this thread, sorry guys. Here are the pictures of the lift, plus 285/70R/17 Falken Wildpeaks. Rides great, but it does rub when turning at slow speeds.

Thanks to some folks on this site, I just dropped the money on a coilover kit. American Express loves me this month...

Atomic Fab and Performance makes a coil over conversion. Would that get me to 32-33" tires? I'm sure the ride will be a ton better. https://atomicfabandperformance.com/product/99-06-torsion-bar-coilover-package/

That's another great point. I'm not sure I want to put the stress of 35s on the rear end. I think 33s should be sufficient, and I can get that with a level kit.

    Beerdy's 2001 Suburban for a family of 6

Plans: Stage 1 (Now to November) Fix the issues I got this Suburban for a song and a dance, but it isn't without its issues. I had to replace the belts, output shaft seal, tail shaft seal, replace the steering gear, flush the PS fluid, and replace the wheel bearing. There was a misfire and CEL...

    Beerdy's 2001 Suburban for a family of 6

I recently moved to the Midwest from the east coast, and we're going to use this as an excuse to explore this part of the country. We've already gone out to South Dakota (absolutely amazing state!), and we're going to start exploring CO and UT later this month. Unfortunately the Suburban won't...

83 Suburban build - Big truck for a big family!

I've been slacking... a lot. I haven't touched this truck until this weekend. I do feel back about that. But all that has changed. . I was originally going to rebuild the engine, but with Summit Racing selling a new crate engine for $1550 shipped to my door, I couldn't pass that up.. I...

83 Suburban build - Big truck for a big family!

The parts have started coming in. Still need to get the cooling system thought out. Not sure if I'm going to upgrade it all, or stick with OEM stuff. . Should be starting this weekend getting the fluids drained and everything prepped. . The exciting part is, my kids are going to be helping me...

83 Suburban build - Big truck for a big family!

Before I pull the trigger on these parts, I'll run these by you guys. I still need recommendations on a distributor, radiator, water pump, oil pump, fuel pump and carb (I think I'll just replace the one that is in there). Gasket set...

83 Suburban build - Big truck for a big family!

Is it more geared (rimshot) toward technical 4 wheeling? Any use for it as an expo vehicle compared to a standard 4 speed?

83 Suburban build - Big truck for a big family!

On Saturday I brought home a 1983 Suburban K20, which I got for a song and a dance. It’s not perfect, but I think it can end up being the perfect vehicle for my family and I. I’ve been searching for an older Suburban for a while, and I had a few things on my wish list. 1) Manual locks and...

Help me choose between the two!!!!

That's where I'm leaning. Plus, the suspension mods seem like the poor man's mods instead of going with a full kit. Any thoughts on that?
