Most days I am trying to get a dog venture in, trying to get young Mishka as well socialised and familiar with the world as Courdel was. With a combination of off lead, and on leash wanders around differing environments.
She's not ready for the back of the truck yet, so still the backseat.

And I had pics of the dam, and a trash barge coming through the locks, but it wont upload.

I am also doing stuff as needed with the local Fire Dept,

Including a lot of C19+ Patient transports,

Masks,gloves, gowns, sealed goggles

the PT also wearing a mask and face shield.

I find this fascinating as well.
I can't imagine trying to keep 3000 people safe in such a remote area with limited resources.
Thank you for sharing.
Ben

We only had 300 at my site directly in my purview , that were employees. Plus 150ish Fisherman,
The rest of the 3k were distributed to other locations, Dutch Harbor, Wood River, Larsen Bay, Kodiak Island, MV Gordon Jensen ( Ship), Dillingham, Seward, Petersburg, etc.

It is a challenge for sure, The Industry is easily 20 years behind where DuPont is. And of course, most supplies have to be brought in my barge, which get loaded in Seattle around March. A lot of improvisation is needed, field craft, etc

And there are the Ships.... an entire different story

Thanks for following along!

I found your description of stabilizing your evacuation patient interesting, especially the improvisation.
It must be a bit scary to be “it” as far as the patient’s medical care.

Are you able to consult a doctor for some guidance?

SPG: Larsen Bay is probably one of the prettiest locations on the company roster. The fish they pull out of here are amazing. Let me see if I can dig up some images.

Jgaz: well you don't have to be crazy to do my job....but it sure helps! :) Here in the front Country, if im on a call. I can get on the radio and have LEO, Fire truck, tender for blocking, multiple medic units within a few mins. Heck I can land a HELO on the freeway....

Out there, its usually just me......it can be terrifying, you need to be solid. I use my Combat Medic Manual a lot, "Google" is also an option sometimes as well.

I can call some of the ER docs in the closest place. They are understanding, But technically since we are Private we aren't part of their system. Alaska, they understand. In fact most of the village clinics just have a Health Aid, and work off of calling one of the larger centers for medical direction.

We have a Doc I can call when on the vessels that we use with Telemedicine. Telemedicine can be a tricky thing,

Mishka just got spayed, so she is in recovery mode

Well, the snow found us yesterday. A neighborhood town had a bad house fire, and they were struggling to continue calls. So we sent an engine and crew, + a medic unit. Did 10 hrs there. Got a phone call FEMA is mobilizing mass Vaccination sites. So after 8 inches of snow last night, and a snow storm that will dump a predicted 10 more inches. I loaded up the camper, and now only have 965 miles left. After a stop through Bend to pick up equipment.

I am jealous. So far all we have is sleet and 29 degrees. Both very rare for Houston though. I have been outside playing most of the day.

I've been in Flagstaff probably about 14 days.

I am the lead for the entire Arizona Deployment.

When coming out, that Saturday and Sunday I did 1700 miles. Many frozen mountain passes.

I have people at 10 sites across Arizona.

The flagstaff site is doing about 600/ day.

I had to chip ice off the bed to get the camper on.

Busy weekend, : the owner of the company, and the ops manager flew down for site visits.

It was a busy weekend, but got all 14 sites visited.

Also, found out I won't be going back to Alaska, at least not for Icicle. As they said when I was done with these deployments they have a full time spot for me.

It was the same drive for Saturday and Sunday.

Adventure Medics, is a great company. And growing so fast. I am honored that I will be a member of their team full time. Even if that means moving to Bend, Oregon.

We are also sending deployment teams to Texas, and New York. Expecting more states to follow suit. It's looking like these deployments will be long, at least until the majority of those ( whom want a vaccine) are taken care of.

My flagstaff site was shut down, due to lack of vaccines.

So the crew and I went down to the Prescott Location. It's in the Toyota dome, we were taking calls all day. A bit of a change of pace.

I never want to work a call center full time, haha.

But we got to watch all the happenings from afar all day.
