Thank you! I figured someone on here would know why they were built like that. Such a large temp swing, I don't imagine they can send "pigs" through the line. They must ultrasound/ inspect from the outside on a regular basis?

Also thanks on the image resizing! I do have a Windows; can't say I'm loving the most recent update they have done though.

Last weekend I was able to check out Fairview Peak exposed fault line.

Histories Mysteries in the desert: FairView Peak exposed fault line 3:08 a.m. on December 16, 1954 an earthquake measuring 7.3 in magnitude was centered near Fairview Peak

The fault line itself is pretty cool, it's not often you get to see that exposed.

Also, never far from random pieces of US Government property. There is a B-17 naval bombing range on the others of this valley. As technology has changed they don't need all these smaller radio stations anymore, so the desert is littered with them.

History's Mysteries in the desert:

On the way back, we had to pass the singing sand dunes again: it was busy and packed as it seems to always be, however we swung in to take a closer look at the Sand Wells Pony Express Station.

With our proximity to the NATC, we get a lot of prototype rigs through the area- in this case Toyota.

This year Zero Declination at the current rate will install 300+ of those 115W flexible solar panels, and close to 500 Battleborn batteries.

The dog loves coming to work with me most days.

Histories Mysteries in the desert

Today we checked out Washoe Lake State Park, Nevada has some of the nicest state parks. The ranger I chatted with was awesome, one of the things that stood out was that Nevada is 70% public land.

I purchased a Nevada State Parks pass- good for a year, including any camping, and entry fees. They are $250/usd. Even though I don't usually camp in state parks, I'll try and visit all of them this year. Not to mention it's a great program to support.

Aside from posting here, and my social media for family to see. I also post as a Google Guide, and I post critters and plants on to the Inaturalist app/site. This seemed like a way for me to share my experiences and travels for a greater good, since I so often am solo or just with the dog. Although I will admit she always likes the company.

The lake is freshwater, and dirty. As in the fish have lead and mercury in levels high enough they can't be consumed. Still a lot of fish, and birds all over the place.

I did not expect to see the snails or what I'm guessing are clam shells.

Halseyt-

I appreciate the comment! With each quick adventure and post I can feel last year melting away.

History’s mysteries in the desert:

Today, windy but always a good time to load up and see something new. We left the apartment and headed out of Reno,

To Dayton state park, and an old mill.

Also some great pizza, and an awesome little carniceria la Rena.

"The Rock Point Mill was constructed in 1861 at a cost of about $200,000, and was one of the largest and most extensive mills on the Comstock. It was supplied with water from the Carson River via a dam and 2000-foot wooden flume, which fed two water wheels to power the operation. Beginning in 1863, it was leased by Charles S. Stevenson (who served as the state's governor from 1887-1890). Originally outfitted with forty stamps, the Rock Point was enlarged by 1866 to fifty-six stamps and by the 1870s had a capacity of 112 tons per day.

In 1882 the Rock Point Mill was destroyed by fire, but was quickly rebuilt and back in operation the next year. It was purchased by Herman Davis in 1898, and in conjunction with a cyanide plant was used to treat tailings in the area, and after the turn of the century ore from Tonopah. Another fire struck in 1909, and again the mill was lost. In 1910 it was rebuilt, this time by the Nevada Mining, Reduction & Power Company and fed by an aerial tramway from the Haywood Mine near Silver City. The mill operated until 1920, when it was finally closed and dismantled. For thirty-two years the site was used as the local dump until it was acquired by the Nevada Department of Highways. In 1977, it was transferred to Nevada State Parks, and has since been protected as a part of Dayton State Park."

It was a Windows down and music up type of Saturday. I did not even make the bed, got up loaded up and drove.

The goal for the day was the Berlin mine, stamp mill and Ghost town.

With the big truck down right now, the camper is also out. So mostly day trips with the ZR2,
