Bummer, I did not see this in time.

We see a lot of rigs through here, maybe I should start posting some of them. We had a GXV in last week, lots of FWC, and pop ups, 2 black series trailers in here right now.
Dealer for Battleborn, extreme outback products, Victron, etc.

Feel free to stop by

I would be willing to take sugestions on how other folks are uploading pics, of what they use to compress them.

Post 3, Fort Churchill weekend.

Fort Churchill was an unexpected surprise on our way to the automotive test center,

The test center, is in the middle of nowhere, and has all sorts of crazy rigs, from armored surburbans, hilux, humvee, APC, etc
Im sure I could of, but did not take any pictures. The road goes right through the middle of their facility. It was cool to see the weird stuff they have out there,

everyone from the military and contractors to GM test rigs out there,

NV has some great state parks, this one was a shinning example.

Lahoten Dam, was one we wanted to check out and the area around it. Made a great spot to stop for the dog to take a swim, and me to eat a candybar.

Histories Mysteries in the desert. Lovelock cave, excavated in 1912.

Saw not other people, another beautiful day. It was only half a day, but was still enjoyable.

Every morning Mishka and I head to Hidden valley park, and we do a mile or so. Its a good spot to get some exercise prior to work. With the temp swings she is a massive 90# fur factory, this was just 10 monutes of brushing.

Histories Mysteries in the desert: Geothermal power plant. I believe the weird designs and bends in the pipes is to increase/decrease pressure and turbulence of the water inside, allowing for better control. The pipes are wrapped in 4 inches of steel jacket insulation.

I needed to clear my head and knew the open road, a good audio book and dog were one of the best ways for me to do so.

It is all on BLM land so you are able to drive around and check it out, I saw only one other person for the 4 hours I explored, and he was workng on the plant. Checking pressures. Nice guy,

Histories Mysteries in the desert, Loran station. Pre GPS these were used to navigate for pilots of the air and sea. 2010 bracc and the administration shut them down as GPS was the new standard. Used by triangulation from multiple antennas/ frequencies. Each assigned a color and overlayed onto a world map* I think*

We walked to the base of the old barracks, I did not take pictures even though Im sure it would of been fine. There was a new generator house, and the anteanna is freshly painted, however Im not sure what its sued for now. No one had been around in quite some time.

The anteanna base had a large glass sphere, eye pointing at it from the power house, and about 3 feet away from the conical base.

We still had a few hours of prime drive time, on sunday and checked out the map to find Stillwater refuge, ( they have pelicans)
Did not see another person, the bird watching platform was nice. Im lucky the dog does not care about critters and just ambles next to me.

Mishka decided the gate in front of the Old Coast Guard Station was a great place to soak up the sun

Thanks for posting, those archeological sites are fascinating.

Regarding the pipe Us, they allow for thermal expansion. Otherwise long runs would buckle and break away from the mounts. Those pipes can see 400F temp swings.

If you have a Windows computer, just use the photos app. Pull up the photo you want to reduce the size on and right. Click and choose resize. I believe I choose the two megabytes for my uploads.

I tend to resize photos destined for the web to around 1.5-2 megapixels (approximately 1920:1080 resolution max). Since so many cameras take photos at 16+ megapixels, they are often to large for most forum software to deal with. Not to mention most forum operators don't want to pay for the unnecessarily high bandwidth costs of big photos.

Thank you! I figured someone on here would know why they were built like that. Such a large temp swing, I don't imagine they can send "pigs" through the line. They must ultrasound/ inspect from the outside on a regular basis?

Also thanks on the image resizing! I do have a Windows; can't say I'm loving the most recent update they have done though.

Last weekend I was able to check out Fairview Peak exposed fault line.

Histories Mysteries in the desert: FairView Peak exposed fault line 3:08 a.m. on December 16, 1954 an earthquake measuring 7.3 in magnitude was centered near Fairview Peak

History’s Mysteries in the desert.

The fault line itself is pretty cool, it's not often you get to see that exposed.

Also, never far from random pieces of US Government property. There is a B-17 naval bombing range on the others of this valley. As technology has changed they don't need all these smaller radio stations anymore, so the desert is littered with them.
