Who makes the best rims?

Hey folks,

I know a bit about tires, but virtually nothing about rims. Who do you think makes the best aftermarket rims?

Also, maybe from us guys, how to get to one casino in Montreal, on the street 150 Saint-Catherine?

Their website, I think it's really quality online casino - pebwallet.com

Thanks in Advance

How will you be using your Jeep?
While there may be a "best" for a given application, there is no best for every application.

OEM > Aftermarket

See what happened to the ford explorer because of bad tires? Yeah well those aftermarket wheel shops dont have none of that to worry about, once they got your money who cares if they break.. whereas OEM wheels passed engineering/crash tests and all that good stuff.. and if OEM's started breaking randomly there'd be a massive recall of em.

The only downside to OEM rims is they are limiting to tire sizes because of widths and off-sets. Other than that, typically much stronger, and of course you already have them. And there's usually a relatively cheap and plentiful supply as the first thing most people do is go out and get some homeboy rims. Recently got a set of 5 Sahara rims with less than 300 miles on them for $100 to use with studded snow tires.

"Best" is so suggestive without any background. What are the rims being used on? What is the intended purpose?

If I was outfitting the same vehicle as rock crawler, overland build, service truck, lifted big or even lowered or a daily driver pavement princess they would probably be three very different wheels.

Application matters!

That said I like OEM wheels on my rigs. Except my willys the factory 4.5 inch wide rims dont work with 13.50 wide tires!

Depends on what you are looking for. the majority of rims are made in China including OEM. AEV rims are made in China (I have had 4 sets) and are probably as well made as OEM. Most OEM if not all are hub centric and many after market are only lug centric if that is important to you. At one time AEV touted the fact that they were hub centric and that was very important but at some point that changed and some of AEV's rims were no longer hub centric and it no longer was important. I have a couple sets of Raceline wheels and they were well made and equal to my AEV rims. Most rims have to meet standards so probably just get the ones you like.

AEV rims used to be made in America but they were too expensive to manufacture here and altho there is a vocal contingent to buy made in the USA even those guys shop by price so AEV went off shore for manufacturing and became competitive. It was a tough decision to do it but in the end it was the only way to stay in business. We scream buy American and then shop at WalMart and buy tires on line. And then we wonder why there is no service in the retail shops.

Back on topic, the best after market rims are not cheap and cheap rims are just that, cheap.

I don’t believe any cast wheels are made in America. The last company I recall making cast wheels in the US was American Eagle Alloy Wheels, but they appear to have gone under fairly recently.

Hutchinson's "Rock Monster" line of street legal beadlocks are probably the best quality but not the lightest or cheapest...

anything hubcentric.

Alcoa used to make wheels in the USA (don't know if they still do). Walker Evans wheels are great as are Ultra and Method race wheels. For simplicity sake and reliability and cost effectiveness, as mentioned above, you can't go wrong with OEM. With that said, many times people want to run larger tires, different wheel offsets and want a different look so aftermarket wheels are a necessity.

To the OP, what do you mean by best wheel? Strongest, lightest, easiest to find, best priced, etc.?

Weld forged made in the USA. I am not going to be stupid enough to say that they are the best but I would take a long look at them. They have had a reputation to top of the line wheels for many decades
