What is this black tank?

I have done a basic search through past posts, but since I don't know what to call it and no access to a manual, thought it best to call on the brains trust to help. (Sure Owen or Dan will have the answer!)
I have a FG649 single cab Canter & in front of the R.H.S. (drivers side in Aust) front step & tucked up high below the floor is this "black tank" with a hose connected to it & a "sensor ?" wired in. Not too many laughs please, but what is it?, what does it do?, and does it need attention/servicing ?
Thanks,

It's the brake vacuum tank, generally needs no attention, just admire from afar:)

The hoses are...one is from the vacuum pump in the front of the engine, the other goes to the brakes and also supplies vacuum for the exhaust brake.

Cheers
