What are you using for a coffee maker and coffee brand when camping/overlanding?

But I also keep a little jar of "Medaglia D'Oro Instant Espresso Coffee". IMHO it is by far the best just add hot water cup of coffee I've ever found... and I have tried a lot. It is what I bring on a backpack trip and keep it stashed in the chuck box in case we run out of ground coffee.
When I was a kid my mom's best friend was from Italy and everyone in that house drank Medaglia D'oro. I loved it but mom was a Maxwell House girl and that's what we had at home.

I like the look of that reusable Aeropress filter. I am going to order one of those. I also use the inverted method. I really don't know why Aeropress doesn't make it the standard method.

BTW! Did you guys know the Aeropress was invented by the same guy that invented the Aerobie frisbee??

You guys have me thinking about the burr grinder. I have a Bodum grinder at home and we have taken it on trips. (I guess that makes me a glamper too?...). My problem is the size of the unit. Has anyone come up with a smaller powered burr grinder? 12v would be best, but I do have an inverter. I am sure with a little creativity you could mount a motor to one of the hand crank grinders.

You made me remember the gizmo that Ashley's wife was using at CFW '16 ------ propane fired coffee maker.

She's at 8:16 in slideshow. I never saw one before and thought it was really cool.

I know, the standard way is messy...

Yep, I knew he was the inventor, I think I read it on their website when I was researching it before I bought it.

Yes, I have that JavaPresse burr grinder, and indeed it takes a very long time.
I have a Black & Decker 110v grinder at home I have used in the past for when I use to use the French press, but it is not a burr one.

I might just whip out all the old kit and leave the instant behind on this next trip. I haven't had real coffee in a while.

French press, bought a cheap one at Ikea. I buy fresh whole beans and grind myself from a grinder I found in a garage sale.

I have a french press, Aeropress, couple of espresso rigs, a couple of 115 volt coffee makers but for camping I use an old school percolator and Seattles best No5 whole beans ground with a handheld burr grinder. YUM!

Wife is no longer a coffee drinker, I get beans from Costco, and grind small amount kept sealed in glass with latched top.
Use a jet boil to boil the water which it does very well. Add the coffee and let it simmer with water for short time. Then it sits for a few, use their press to keep grounds out of cup when I pour into my coffee cup.
Thanks Russ

At VOR this weekend I used a French press from REI. I've also used an Aeropress on a few solo/couple trips with great results.

My wife says she gave our espresso pot away since we weren't using it anymore. :(

Still trying to find my French press.

I also use the jetboil. Usually use coarse ground Tim Hortons or Starbucks Caffe Verona with Baileys instead of cream and sugar.
