Water cooler parts?

We all see them. Some have them in our homes. They run on 110 VAC. They take room temperature water from a big upside down clear plastic jug and turn it into VERY cold or VERY hot water, right?

Anybody ever crack one open, strip the parts, and make an in-vehicle water heater/cooler that'll run off an inverter? It would even run off shore power when at a campground.

Hmmm.....

heres one...at wally world...might be worth it for a tinkerer to pick one of these or something like it up and play around with it. all you would need is a good tank and pump and see where this might go....interesting to say the least

Well, I was thinking gravity feed from a Scepter on the wall. No pump needed. Hot Water for dishes. Cold drink on demand.

I was in the one at the office not too long ago, but not too deep. There's a metal bowl/ring and coolant flows through the outside. If there's not enough water it will ice up. It's very much like a mini fridge save the heat exchanging surface isn't the back of the fridge so much as the outside of the metal bowl. Flimsy construction to boot (at least that one).
