Vintage Motorhome Revival.

Introduction to the Land Cruiser Chinook.

Long time reader, first thread!

Here is a brief intro to our build.

(Hi! We're Matthew and Stacey, known some places as Toyota World Runners) This is our Cruiser Chinook name Sunday.

Wasn't too sure where to post it, but it is mostly Land Cruiser so here we are!

We've gleaned a lot of inspiration from builds we've seen on EP, and figured we could perhaps do the same for others. Here goes...

This was our first ground up build. Thankfully we had the privilege to work with Westcan Overland, a very talented and experienced fabricator who became the title sponsor of our YouTube series.

The body is an original 1976 Toyota Chinook.
We mated it to the rolling chassis of a 1996 80 series Land Cruiser with custom CNC body mounts. It took a lot of time staring at tape measures.
After the body was mounted we got to work installing a 5vz-fe V6 from a 2000 Toyota 4runner. There's a lot of reasons we chose this motor.
It then received a 5 speed transmission is from a 1993 Toyota pickup.
Custom engine mounts, transmission and T-case cross member and a home made stand-alone engine harness brought it to life.
It's running 35x12.5x15 STT pros for now, 4.88 Nitro gears and a ~3" Dobinsons lift.

The interior was also a lot of fun. It's got a 3 stage on-demand water system, diesel heater, indoor (and outdoor) kitchen and a fun dinette/bed setup with a U shaped bench and lots of neat storage solutions.

We built the whole rig in 100 days and I nearly broke his back doing it. Long, very long days.

We've got a lot more details in videos on YouTube and on our website, www.toyotaworldrunners.com/rigs

Thanks for reading, happy to go into more detail, answer questions and/or write a full thread if that's of interest to anyone.

Cheers!
