"Very large heavy duty 4X4 truck" in CA

This is a strange ad and I can only assume the photos are old and it is sitting rusting in a field somewhere at time of sale and the seller knows the history but cannot provide the make or model. But based on the story and photos it looks like it could be a quirky but capable overland platform for someone.

Camper in pic 3 is a 2010 (+/-3 years). But might not be that old of a photo. Looks in decent shape, I wonder how the frame looks.

Hopefully the guy still has it. Shot him a message. We'll see what happens. Looks from those articles like it probably has the CAT 3208.

10.4 liter Caterpillar TD V8 and all that hardware for $6,500? If it didn't cost an arm and a leg to ship something so heavy, I'd buy it for the heck of it.

It's a steal... I bid on an 88, Shorter Flat-bed, Hay-hauler... When it got to 12K, I was out of the picture. Have my eye's on an 89 (same engine, trans) that has a one-man Hydraulic Bucket on the bed with Utility Boxes.
They are heavy, but you won't have kidney stones. DG

That could make a way cool truck with a low buy in. Sell the rear body/crane and get your start price even lower.

What I wouldn't give to see somebody build up an old 4x4 Ford C8000/9000. Nearly swung on one. I have seen them with the Brazilian Ford 7.8L straight 6 which is a great motor.

4wd was a company that built trucks and they had a mode that used the ford cab. So it probably actually is a “4wd”

Per a phone call with Gary this afternoon... He has sold the Truck to another Californian. He feels it will be back on the market shortly. David
