Upper Coyote Canyon/Bailey's Cabin/Toro Peak Run.....

Dates: Oct. Sat./Sun. 17/18

CB Radio Channel 4 .....(ham guys post up your freq.) (if you don't have a radio come anyway!)

Meet up Spot: Dairy Queen in Anza, CA. (gas station next door for top off).

http://local.yahoo.com/info-20972136-dairy-queen-anza

Meet up time: 9am. (so folks can join from all around)

We can probably do this all in one day. But for those of you who would like to camp, I am open to camping at Bailey's cabin or Toro Peak on Sat. night. Bailey's might be good.

We will first head for Upper Coyote Canyon.

I would like for this to also be a scout run for the future Coyote Canyon mtn. bike run, if we can make this happen.

You could even bring your mtn. bikes and help check the area from base camp at Bailey's cabin south on Sat.

I've got a box of firewood that I really want to get rid of. If you promise to burn it first I'll bring it along.:)

I'd like to overnight this one, but if nobody else is going to then I'll day trip it.

I'm camping overnight. I got the ingredients for smores already minus the stakes for heating up the marshmallows.

I'm (the wife and I) are still on board for this. We plan on camping Sat night too. Hoping TACODOC get his Flippac in time... I'll try to locate some firewood, I do have some framing lumber scraps if desperate.

Will a full tank of gas in Anza suffice for this trip, or shall I bring along an extra 20L?

If you read that thread about how remote you can get in the lower 48, you'd realize that you can't get too far away from civilization. From the study, the farthest away you can get from any McDonalds is about 100 miles. And if there's a McDonalds I'm sure there's a gas station nearby.

I'm going to top off the gas tank near the meeting spot.

A full tank in Anza should work. Although it never hurts to have a little extra. Someone could always need some. There is a Exxon~Mobil next to the Dairy Queen.

It looks like there are a couple of side canyons to explore also.

Here is one of them.

Horse Canyon.....

You GPS Experts can help us find these!

If anyone can help find any Ancient Native American sites on the net, to explore in the area, that would be cool!

What's left of the old cabin on top of Toro Peak. I wonder if it's OK to have a fire in the old Fireplace?:costumed-smiley-007

Here is a fun read for a future exploration.
This shows you what can be found around the area.
We won't be seeing this on this trip seems like a lot of walking involved, I wonder if it's O.K. for a mtn. bike to do it?).
