Unique find in Whitehorse, Yukon

Seems the Wal-Mart parking lot is a good place to find vehicles parked for the night. On my recent canoe trip in the Yukon I found this diesel Toyota rig.

Thanks,
Fred

Wal-Mart has an open arms policy when it comes to RV's. Nation-wide, they are allowed to use their parking lots overnight, no questions asked.

I read on a camper forum that a lot of Walmarts are having to change their policy. Story is that campgrounds are loosing business and putting pressure on city governments to enact 'no overnighting w/i city limits' laws. Hope the info was wrong.

I met this couple a few months ago at another Wal-mart in Delta BC. They were getting groceries and I had a few minutes to talk with them which I believe they are from Germany and language barriers became a problem.
There rig sticks out in the parking lot quite well.

It's not wrong info. Some unthinking RV'ers/squatters combined with local ordinances are cutting down the number of Walmarts that allow overnight parking.

License plate seems to indicate Switzerland as does the nationality plate (CH = the Helvetican Confederation, i.e. Switzerland.)

I see a lot of Swiss and Euros travel through town in the summer with their rigs. Most are long gone now, nice having the road system back. Nice find by the way.

Seen that truck in Cowtown!

I met that couple in Calgary about a month and a half ago...when they pulled into the dealership I work at looking for some parts to repair the front end. Called my Dad up to come look and also show off his rig and talk trucks. Yes, they are from Switzerland and so is my Dad, so they hit it off really well. We tried to help them and offer them a place to crash, but they had to fix it right away in order to hit he road up north. IIRC, it's a 1989 BJ75 with 105,000 kms, tidy front bumper that is also a water tank, fairly well setup camper that was built in Germany that has a furnace, 12V and 24V, solar, shower, toilet, everything you could want. Can't remember their website right now but will look for it later. Really slick rig I'd love to tour in...just needs a turbo!

On a side note, the camper was most likely built by a company like this....
Prepare to drool...
