Since soon after I started working on it in fifteen years ago, the Earthroamer XV-JP “Northwest Edition” has had an aluminum JAOS rack on the roof, However, with a recent change to the cabin roof design, I need to reduce the overall height and thus can’t keep the rack.
It’s a very nice rack and still perfectly functional. It’s about 44 wide x 53 long and about has rails that stick up 6 inches above the floor slats.
You’re on your own for mounting hardware; it was on the ER Jeep with threaded isolation bushings, so there are six holes in the slats for that, plus some additional holes for all of the things that have been mounted over the years. It’s in generally good condition. The pictures show that there’s a slight crease in parts of three floor slats. Beyond that, just oxidation and a slight surface rust commensurate with its age.
I thought these were probably long gone, but it appears that JAOS is still a Japanese supplier of SUV accessories and that a company in Pennsylvania called Burtman Industries that imports special components for Japanese cars will supply JAOS items. From their website, I copied this:
which, while it is a very nice roof rack, might be a bit over the top. It does serve, however, to suggest that it’s a solid product and also that $100 might be a reasonable bargain.
