Ultimate Square Body Suburban Overland Build

Regcabguy

Oil eater.
Just a quick update, these last few weeks have been really busy. Got the front and rear axles off, engine removed and will continue to remove unnecessary items and material. Next up the gas tank, dash and all leaf spring mounts. Ordered the proper size die for my tube bender and will hopefully start on the nerf bars next week.

I also picked up a NP203 for the double. Stay tuned!

No smog. One less obstacle to driving an internal combustion engine equipped here.
My friend just got the registration for his 62 Chevy convertible. $162. He's going to get a non-op as he only drives it infrequently.
Looking forward to your build.
There was a shop here that bought Forestry vehicles at auction.
They had some manual 4x4 3/4 ton Subes. All forest service green.
Kick myself for no buying one.

Yea, I don't believe this was ever a military vehicle as it came with a VIN, however the build sheet was exactly like a CUCV. It is 4x4 3/4T and originally came with a diesel motor. I also have CUCV M1031 where I got my 1T axles from.

Just a little update, made some more head way with the engine bay and was able to remove the dash. If you guys dont already have of these little nibbler tools, they work great for thin gauge steel. Next up should start on the new A/C, custom dash and the ORD coilover axle mounts come this week!!! Stay tuned.

Finally the ORD coilover axle mounts and four link mounts arrived. These things are seriously heavy duty. Great looking welds and made to order, very excited to start on the suspension. A few more frame mods, mostly the rivets and I should be ready to work on the coilovers. Still waiting on the vintage air. Stay tuned!

And then there is this. Donor truck was a 87 K30 and it took me about a 2.5hr with the saw to get it done in the junk yard.

I think you might know where I am going with this build, if you are familiar with ORD K30 build. Why do this? Because I want something custom/one off, I want to do a custom rear end and because I think I can. The tubular rear end, Coilovers, custom RTT rack will mimic ORD four door offroad truck, which I love.

Hopefully a few more parts will arrive and I can start mounting the A/C, motor and rear end coilovers. Stay tuned!!!!

I really like where you are going with this build. That ORD crew cab truggy is pretty rad, so it will be cool to see your take on it.

Mr Sub this is truly becoming an epic build, as everyone else has said. It should be fun to follow your progress. I agree with you about your ORD parts. The welds look imaculate. I think they are tig welded judging by the beads. Nice load of goodies. Cheers, Chilli..
