Two RRC upgrade questions (shocks and chips)

So my complete lack of money hasn't stopped me from looking at Roverporn...

1) Suspension... If the EAS ever dies, I will probably replace it with a spring conversion. But until then I need most of my bushings replaced and I suspect shocks as well. Which shocks will work with both the factory suspension AND a mildly lifted spring conversion (2" is the absolute maximum I would want to lift, and probably not that much)?

2) Tornado(?) chips claim to improve horsepower, longevity, mpg, and probably odor. I have enough HP for my needs, but rr.net's tornado section makes it sound pretty good for other things. Has anybody actually used these so that some real-world comparisons can be made?

Thanks, y'all!

Chip - Waste of money. If you want more grunt stick to more traditional modifications (headers, ignition components, so on).

Stock shocks will work, but you will find their limits quickly off road.

If you have a complete lack of money the Tornado chip is about the last thing I would do to my RRC, unless I was a billionaire and had nothing else to spend money on.

I don't know the condition of your truck but a simple tune up (sparks, rotor, cap, cables, hoses, belts, bushings, bearings, fluids) is a much better upgrade & upkeep for these old beasts. It will keep it happy and running for a long time.

I would go with the OME(Old Man Emu) set up. By far the best I have ever had. I also agree with others, just keep up on tune ups and maintience and you will be fine.

Old Man Emu for suspension.

Chips may work but probably only worthwhile on "tuned" engines.

There are a few cam options that offer some increases, as other have posted a tune up with quality wires/plugs and a genuine cap and rotor are best. Its a nearly 2.5 ton truck with the most gutless V8 ever built, what do you expect?

Guess I should have explained more - I don't want more grunt... I was just curious if anybody has actually used the Tornado. I chipped my BMW 535iS and it gave me an extra 2mpg!

So which OME shocks work with both stock EAS and lifted springs?

Thanks guys!
