I recently picked up a 2000 phoenix popup that I've stuffed into a ram 1500 crew cab - it actually fits the super short box pretty well. The only current points available for tying down with turnbuckles are on the jack mounting brackets, and this seems to work but the upper point is very close to the brophy tie downs that I'm using.
Is it reasonable enough to simply go from the camper jack bracket to the tiedown with a single basic turnbuckle -- no chain or spring loaded turnbuckle, or is this asking for trouble? I can't quite get my head around the dynamics of the camper in the bed and if a mostly ridged solution (verses some length of chain or one of the pricier spring loaded options) via the single turnbuckle is oaky or potentially detrimental to the camper. Thoughts?
