I just picked up an 06 double cab Tundra with flippac off of this forum. Took the overnight train from SLC to Truckee.

I really like traveling by train. Breakfast was served with a view.

Met up with the seller in the middle of a blizzard, so the whole test drive was done in 4wd. I found the posting honest with regards to the condition, and we struck a deal.

With the snow delay of the train and general conditions it was about 12:45 before I was able to get on he road.

I tried to take my time as I didn't want to push an unknown to me truck too hard. Managed to stay in between most f the storms until Wendover.

I have a 2dr RRC that is my off-reloading vehicle this will be more of an adventure and family camping truck.

I will be focusing on making camping trips with our son more turnkey and less stressful for my wife.

Unfortunately, it has snowed every day since purchase so very little has been done aside from driving it home. Utah won't pass inspection as it has no 3rd brake light on the flippac. I found visibility at night with the weather so bad that I ordered headlights as soon as I got home. Despite it being after 1 on the morning. Traveling this week so progress will have to wait.

Very excited to see where this takes us.

Mike

Thanks guys. It was a quick turnaround in Truckee. Wish I had time to take a tour at least.

Brief respite between storms have me a chance to see how bad the leak was. Found a dime size crack In the gelcoat that I did the first half of the repair on. Will sand and polish when I return. Hopefully we will have a good sunny couple of days. Obligatory shot from the bed inside the flippac. I was pulling the sheets. Need to repair about half of the screens.

Back from my work trip.

There were a few small packages waiting for me. I had a chance to get a couple o the little things done. Fixed the loose door handle, program 2 new key fobs, and replace the headlights. They definitely needed it.

The rear light for the flippac came in, but haven't mounted it yet.

Saw that in the for sale section, I'm definitely jealous of the flippac! I'd love one for my first gen...

Where'd you order the headlights from? Mine have gotten hammered on this winter and are cracking in multiple places.

Jealous of the flip-pac, I already have your truck lifted and with a nice winch bumper.

The flip-pac made the trip to truckee worth it. Trying to use it a little before making any major purchases. Coming from the Land Rover world, I have no baseline of performance. I also have a S. Utah toy, this is the family adventure mobile.

Speaking of adventuremobile, took it out this weekend for a quick overnight. Headed out to the Silver Island Mountains near the Salt Flats. Truck performed pretty well, a little lack of front handling under fast compression., but overall I was very happy.

I love the salt flats in the winter.

We had amazing weather. The clouds were awesome.

I need to figure out a better/quicker way to pack and secure the bed, but the flippac performed as advertised. Was warm and comfy. It was about 28F at night, and it warmed right up with the dog next to me and a friend who decided to sleep in the bed.

Little parts arriving this week, that will get it through inspection next week.

Cheers

Such an awesome set up. Plenty of room for gear and enclosed sleeping area.
