Since it is easy to define people by what they drive on a forum like this rather than who they are, I feel it is necessary to give a little background on me first. I’ve always enjoyed the outdoors, exploring, and traveling. It’s a big part of why I joined the Marine Corps and have taken the direction I have thus far in my life. Therefore, it’s not a big surprise that I find myself frequenting this forum. If nothing else I find myself living vicariously through other people’s adventures and travels.

I would love to be able to dump everything and head out on a RTW expedition tomorrow, but that seems like it will always be just a dream. I've been very fortunate to do a good amount of worldwide travel already (26 countries currently), but I have not had the chance to explore nearly any by vehicle. That is something I plan to change eventually, but for now I will set a realistic goal of attempting to explore as much of this continent as I can afford by vehicle.

I'm guilty of having focused more on four wheeling and the truck itself than the adventure for too long now. As time has gone by I have returned back to my real passion for “getting out there.” The more time I spend out with others on this forum I feel less and less attached to any of the farkle soon to be posted below. It’s my hope that any of the following information will serve to help anyone that might be reading to better enjoy their time outdoors and not simply showoff where I’m at building my truck.

Unlike the forum I had my build on before I can get feedback and questions directly in this thread instead of just through PM’s. I’m going to keep things short and sweet (more of a build history by pictures.) This will keep me from over explaining a lot of the common steps. If anybody has questions about the reasoning, direction, or technical info I’ll be more than happy to elaborate.

On to the build…

Now onto the journey...

Bought the truck used the summer of 2006 with 60k miles. It had a cheepo spacer lift, factory upgraded Enkei wheels, and freshly mounted 265/75/16's street tires.

I kept it essentially stock for about a year before moving and requiring more capability. I enjoyed hitting the trails often (even on the street tires.) I love the added capability of the truck now, but I can help but feel a bit of nostalgia when I see these pictures:

Good times!
