Truck Camper Magazine Review of 2014 Overland Expo

I find it odd that he was writing for "Truck Camper Magazine" and that the "Host Mammoth" TC that was on display wasn't even mentioned. The size, lay-out, and quality of the unit is worthy of a note.
I was also impressed with Host's "Outback" model that is built on a Mitsubishi Fuso 4WD. The lay-out (up to 3 slides) with an amazing amount of living space, storage, and creature comforts was nice to see on an off-road capable chassis at a reasonable price. The manufacturer is also willing to incorporate custom touches to match the customer's preferences. Speaking from experience as a long time truck camper owner, this unit may be the next evolution in our off-highway capable, fully self-contained, yet compact (relatively speaking) RV.
By the way, does anyone have any pictures of these Host units that they can share? I was too busy talking and forgot to take any photos of them.

One concern with slide-outs is how well they work when parked on an uneven surface. If the camper is twisted a little, the slides can bind. I've seen this problem in RVs that have a bed that can be lowered from the ceiling over the dining area. Binding is an issue with pop-up campers, too. It's just one feature to check out with the manufacturer/dealer prior to purchase.

There's a thread on ExPo started by member Mog. He had a close look at the Fuso with Host camper body at the manufacturer's facility in Bend, OR. Host calls the camper the "Outback Explorer 1" (with two slides) or "Outback Explorer 2" (three slides).

EarthCruiser has a separate web site set up for the Outback Explorer

Here is the limited information on the Host Camper web site
