Trip to Madikwe Game Reserve

Not quite Landy-related, but wifey and I went to the Madikwe Game Reserve for a break from the current situation.

Here are some photos, this was only at one of the lodges that we stayed at, will post some more photos as we sort through them.

This was at Jaci's Lodge, in the South Eastern part of the reserve.

We then spent 4 nights at Madikwe Hills, in the North West part, photos will be coming up tomorrow.

Hence great to see the photos.

Madikwe Hills looks great. We know much of Botswana and a fair bit of RSA - mainly Limpopo, Gauteng, Mpumalanga, KZN, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, and the western part of Northern Cape. Really would like to explore North West and the rest of Northern Cape, so your post stimulates enthusiasm.

Yeah, Madikwe was also a first for us, and being one of the 'lesser' known reserves, is generally quieter while having a very good distribution of animals.

Highly recommend Madikwe Hills, I will post some photos from there tomorrow.

thanks bud, always a pleasure to share what we experience with the world, especially in these trying times.

No real story to this trip, other than the local safari lodges have done massive discounts for the locals because there are no foreign tourists coming into ZA. So we took advantage of this, and decided to spend 2 weeks in the bush just to get away from the lockdown stress.

My wife and I travel a lot (well, used to), so 2020 was tough on us, and it looks like 2021 will be more of the same. So we're exploring our local sites via road trips to stay safe.

What do you people think about a USA citizen or two, vaccinated, coming with camper truck from USA via Europe in October or November? Will they let us in SACU?
Or do we need to wait another year? Don’t want to drive from Alaska to Nova Scotia October- early May.
