Transglobal Car Expedition

Hi all -

In this moment of global stress, I want to announce something improbable and, I hope, connective.

For years I've wanted to create a pole-to-pole educational and scientific adventure. And now I am incredibly lucky to be part of an initiative to do exactly that. I'm a member of an elite international team (Russian, Icelandic, Ukrainian, Canadian, German, American, Georgian, and British) that's planning to circumnavigate the globe through both poles. As a whole that has never been done, and several sections are world firsts also.

So starting March 9th, we are attempting to be the first to drive overland from the continental shelf of North America to the high Arctic, connecting to routes that members of the team (real explorer rock stars) have pioneered in previous years. Next year, the team will use experience from this challenge to complete a full continuous vertical circumnavigation of the globe, supporting scientific and educational initiatives along the way.
This is the most difficult and improbable thing that vehicles can do on our planet. Which is why I'm so excited to be involved in it.

What are the plans when going over the water? Will it be air or boat , or both?

Also, on the map there is a section that backtracked. What happened there?

Looks like an amazing trip that you will get to take part in.

Amazing results today for @transglobalcar - 500km by ice road and 20km overland on a route that wheeled vehicles have never crossed. Very cold, very remote, and very exciting. Proper stuff. Low snow cover and crusty cold consistency meant we had to watch for rocks, but both the Yemelyas and the Arctic Trucks delivered and there was no winching or digging. Just steady progress. Such amazing teammates and innovations in overland travel.

whoa... dinner in Bullocks.... nothing like dining with attitude

moving ice sounds ominous

I have my globe out.... trying to predict the route lol.. ahh, there is a link....

The logistics, permits, visas must be mind boggling. This sounds like the biggest international challenge ever.

Ray Hyland nailed it

Epic Trip.

Teams with International members always command respect. Given the state of the world today this expedition goes beyond Epic. The world needs to see what is possible when politics and division are forgotten. Kudos to everyone involved. I pray the challenges will be an inspiration to all of us.

The expedition reminds me of a book I got this Christmas.

define tread lightly..... these guy nailed it
"one of the things we want to make sure of, and make sure that our tracks basically get blown away in the wind"
at 1.5psi the tires should leave the terra firma firm....

"The team plans to pass through Yellowknife in Feb. 2023" .....
I left Yellowknife in 2008.... 15 years sounds like the right time to return and I LOVE the north in the winter.
It would be soo cool to dine at Bullocks with these guys.

Quick photo update. We succesfully made the first overland wheeled crossing of Nunavut to the Arctic Ocean. Hard going in places but the expertise on the team came through. Now in Cambridge Bay for a day resetting and having wonderful visits with locals and Elders, and planning to move on to Resolute. Lots of time analyzing the ice. Sorry for the small photos but bandwidth narrow. Thanks for all the support. ACP

A few more. Globe photo is me and Vasily Elagin, a legit Russian explorer rockstar with Everest and unsupported North Pole under his belt. Nothing like eating raw fish in an amphibious vehicle of his own design to bond.
