Trans. Temp Gauge Mount

I just thought I would shoot y'all a pic of my Trans Temp Gauge Mount. It is actually a Oil Temp Gauge, but it works fine and gives me the temp inside the ol'tranny. I would think this would be a good item for all Automatic Tacoma Expedition Vehicles. Let me know if ya got questions or comments. On another note I just finished up High Angle Rescue School today. Dallas Fire is starting a USAR (Urban Search and Rescue) team to be active by June 06. We will respond nationwide if FEMA calls. It's for Earthquake, Tornado and Katrina like things. Anyways hope everyones well, Tu Compadre. Suty

Nice clean work Suty. This I think is a good thing for pretty much all auto trans rigs. I have a light, but no guage. I do not know from experience, but I have heard that the Taco's tranny does have atendancy to run a little hot anyway.

You know what, that just gave me a really good idea. I hate that stupid clock location anyways. :D

For my gauges, this is what I did.

Gauge install

I have three more gauges to go in the dash, just under the passenger airbag. Those are outside air temp, fridge temp and air pressure (for the ARB's and air tank)

I need a tranny oil temp gauge!....Great idea!

Sometimes out on the trail....I bump my O/D button by accident....at times I've had to pull over and idle for 5 minutes because my trans oil temp idiot light came on. I finally figured out it was me!

I would really like to have temp gauges for everything!

Coolant....Engine Oil.....Tranny.....T~Case

Did I miss anything?

Now we just need to design a "Pucker Factor Gauge"!!!! :D

Should it be on a scale of 1~10 ...or 1~5...?

Toyota is already ahead of you! They're so far ahead of the curve they don't even make these anymore, but I have one in my '85 pickup -

But this gauge in my T100 is my favorite one to monitor! -

KC,

You have no idea how cool that gauge is on your 85.

That gauge is actually my earliest memory of a Toyota 4wd (other than Back to the Future) I drove to Blyth and back in a 1985 4Runner with that gauge set. I thought it was the coolest thing ever!

But, that gauge in your T100 is a little more exciting I am sure.

Now you really want the truck don't you?! :D ;)

I was trying for perfect 10's in that first picture. I was right at 10K elevation and 10 degrees lean forward and 10 degrees lean sideways. I'm not sure I'd push it to 30 degrees!

I'm glad I could provide you with a little flashback. :ylsmoke: As you recall, the inclinometer was one of the first things I wanted to get for the truck. Might be silly to some, but I'd categorize it as a cool and fun mod and the altimeter comes in handy.

I bought mine off of eBay. Seems to be the best place to find them as there are usually 2 or 3 a week on there. Some are direct Japanese Domestic Market, but JDM shows the altimeter in meters, not feet. There are also some models for sale from the early 4wd Toyota Tercels, but they don't feature the altimeter just the pitch and roll gauges. There are often some JDM Nissan models listed on eBay too and they're cheaper than the Toyota models.

With shipping included, expect to pay $80-$100 off of eBay.

**** Before you buy a Toyota inclinometer/altimeter read this thread! ****

If you have a sun cracked dash like me, you might look for someone who is selling their inclinometer with a "like-new" dash pad. That's what I should have done. They're not on eBay very often but you can find them. They usually run an extra $30 with the dash pad.
